Some of the fried chicken made this evening waits under the heating lamps to be purchased. The restaurant also sells great dishes other than just chicken, such freshly made salads, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and even a few kinds of seafood.
“You can call me the man in the rubber dress!” Frank Monroe shouts as he removes the body of a raw chicken from storage to cut and prepare it to be fried. Frank has worked at Miller’s Chicken for almost 40 years now. His job is to open up the restaurant every morning, prepare the fresh salads and deserts, and most importantly to cut the chicken bodies into the separate chicken pieces for sale.

The Middle School

On the walk home one day I took a picture of Athens Middle School.. just for fun? I dunno, but the colors are sweet.

Uptown Steve

For a few hundred dollars Steve agrees to perform at the fine dining restaurant Rhapsody in Nelsonville, OH. With degrees in Telecommunications, Journalism and Political Science one might think that Steve would choose an easier lifestyle for himself. Yet Steve is determined to do what he loves, whether or not he will ever make enough money to earn a comfortable living.

The Fans

Huge crowds of enthusiastic college students will often come, sometimes taking up the entire sidewalk, as Steve Zarate performs their favorite requests. Best friends and total strangers join to listen to his catchy melodies every weekend in Athens, Oh.

Going to be a long night..

Before a long night of performing in the cold, Steve Zarate prepares himself by smoking a pipe of ganja while listening to cassettes of Neil Young and Elton John in his van alongside Union, St. Steve has not been feeling well this week, yet he will still attempt to play his guitar in hopes of making just a few dollars tonight.
