Miller's Chicken
In the small college town of Athens, Oh, there are many fast food restaurants located uptown for Ohio University college students on the go. But down the road and around the bend there is a kind of fast food restaurant much different than the rest. Miller's Chicken, at 235 West State Street, is anything but the everyday Athens eating establishment. The restaurant has been around for more than 60 years now, and they carry menu items that have only one goal in mind... taste. This is why Miller's has became known as simply, "The best fried chicken in town!"

Some of the fried chicken made this evening waits under the heating lamps to be purchased. The restaurant also sells great dishes other than just chicken, such freshly made salads, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and even a few kinds of seafood.

“You can call me the man in the rubber dress!” Frank Monroe shouts as he removes the body of a raw chicken from storage to cut and prepare it to be fried. Frank has worked at Miller’s Chicken for almost 40 years now. His job is to open up the restaurant every morning, prepare the fresh salads and deserts, and most importantly to cut the chicken bodies into the separate chicken pieces for sale.

Toenail Polish and Figure Skates
Courtney takes a moment to rest after a coaching session one evening. Taking nineteen credit hours and keeping a steady job isn’t exactly easy. She says it’s hard to find time to do the things that most college students take for granted. “Like sleep, I never have time to just relax. It’s always class, work, and homework.”

Olympia
Courtney lifts the door that houses the giant Olympia machine used to smooth out the ice. It is her responsibly to drive the Olympia ice every Thursday night. It’s not an easy job and requires a lot of training time to get behind the wheel. Even Courtney can admit that she has made some mistakes in the past. “A few weeks ago I forgot to take the hoses off the Olympia before backing up. It bent the garage door and bent the piping off the wall. Everything works okay for now but its still eventually going to need replaced.”
